Sharing a love for reading one library at a time

About Little Libraries for Literacy
Little Libraries for Literacy stemmed from my capstone ethics project themed "Make the Place Better." I thought what better way to benefit my community than to further a love for reading that inspires children?
With that I developed a project around a lending library. Benefits of the lending libraries include being accessible to children of every age, promoting family literacy, getting kids outdoors and active, and serving an educational purpose.
Promoting literacy for children has many positive effects:
improved language skills;
preparation for academic success;
increased concentration, discipline, creativity, and imagination;
cultivating a stronger bond with your child and;
establishing a lifelong love of reading.
The lending libraries offer kids a place to enjoy reading in nature, choose books that invite their interest, and interact with peers who share their enthusiasm.

The Story Trail gets kids and families moving while enjoying a good book in nature.

Reading is Fundamental
Reading is Fundamental is one of my favorite literacy charities. They help to get books into the hands of kids who otherwise wouldn't have access - a crucial way to spread a love for reading. Please consider supporting them at www.rif.org.
